Most of you will have heard about the movie 'The
Princess Bride'. I have recently watched that movie and I am going to write a
movie review about it.
'The Princess Bride' was made in 1987, directed by
Rob Reiner. It was filmed in Ireland and England. The genre of this story is
romance, adventure, and comedy.
This movie is about a book that a grandfather reads
to his grandson. The characters are Buttercup, a princess, Westley, the lover
of Buttercup, Prince Humperdinck, the prince, Fezzik, the giant, Indigo, the
Spanish swordsman, Vizzini, the smart man, Miracle Max, and Count Rugen, the
six fingered man.
The story goes like this.
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named
Buttercup, and a farmboy called Westley who worked for Buttercup. They loved
each other. Westley went on a sea voyage to gain his fortune and marry
Buttercup. However, Westley goes missing for 5 years.
-5 years later-
Buttercup is engaged to Prince Humperdinck but gets
abducted by three men, Fezzik, Indigo, and Vizzini. The three men were spotted
by a man in black (not MIB, the movie) and were chased by him. The three men
tried to hide from the man in black by climbing the Cliffs of Insanity, but
when the man in black followed, one of the men, Indigo the Spanish swordsman,
was left behind to finish him off. When Indigo was defeated, he said "I am
searching for a man with six fingers on his right hand. He killed my father.
Then, when the remaining two men, Fezzik and Vizzini, knew that Indigo was
defeated, they leave Fezzik behind to ambush the man in black. Fezzik the Giant
was defeated in a wrestling game (WOW). Finally, Vizzini was defeated in a
battle of wits.
The man in black takes Buttercup into the fireswamp
and reveals himself as... Westley! In the fireswamp they endure ROUS(Rodents Of
Unusual Size), lightning sand(quicksand), and sudden fires that start up that occasionally
occur in the swamp. However, he was caught by Prince Humperdinck and was
tortured until he was almost dead in the Pit of Despair by Count Rugen. Fezzik
and Indigo save Westley by taking him to Miracle Max, who makes a miracle
happen. But there is one twist, Westley was paralysed. Even with Westley
paralysed, they stormed the castle and rescued Buttercup. Indigo got his
revenge on the man he was looking for. Who was Count Rugen. The person who
tortured Westley.

It was a very good movie, with appropriate amounts
of action, thriller, and drama. I liked that the movie is 'told' by a boy's
grandfather reading a book. I also liked that when Westley woke, he was
paralyzed. It gave a nice twist to the story.
By watching this movie I learned three things. One,
always have faith. Two, true love always prevails. Three, the qualities of
leaders. Leaders should have faith, courage, and be headstrong.
